Making 2020 work as a video production professional

Hectic schedules are a given with film-making.

Producing. Creating. Meeting clients.

Occasionally filming!

It’s an incredible privilege to be able to work with some of the most interesting people in the region, helping them tell their stories and showcase the triumphs of their hard work.

What’s happening in video production?

It’s been a busy start to my year and one filled with deadlines, from shooting a Facebook commercial for Pancreatic Cancer UK in a cold, leaf-swept London park, to building a series of educational videos with pop and sizzle for primary school children and filming at events and art galleries.

It’s been full on.

But the opportunity to chat with so many great individuals supersedes being ‘busy’ and the challenges of film-making are also, perversely, its joys. These great moments have included:

  • Attending a two day series of digital transformation workshops led by SouthEast Creatives

  • Working with East Sussex County Council on three major regional educational projects

  • Filming at one of my favourite places ever - Hastings Contemporary

  • Getting the chance to travel across the whole of East and West Sussex for work

  • Work with a Yoga product business (products, models and glamorous locations)

I love what I’m doing and so I’ve decided to create a monthly round up, to share my work and what I’ve been up to with my video production clients in the south east.

But first, let’s celebrate what made 2019 so great.

So what milestones did you hit with video production?

Well, let’s tick them off:

  • Successfully completed a project with a major national charity, helping them launch their first ever mass participation event and gain signups

  • Hired my first project assistant

  • Reached my turnover goal for 2019 (just squeezed in on December 28th!)

  • Hit 515,000 views on Google Images and video

  • Hit my testimonial goal for 2019 with 10 big positive shares (read them at the testimonials page)

  • Began transforming from a commission-led business to recurring contract business

Phew, that’s just the start. There’s still a huge mountain to climb and so much to learn but 2020 still has plenty of time in it and I’m excited for the opportunities that the current economy offers. It’s making me a better film-maker and a more astute business person.

I’m also setting up a new email list for people interested in my video production services as well as followers who want to keep up with my production and on set work.
